While existing email and other settings for .Mac continue to work, users are advised to fire up Software Update and download the MobileMe update to fully utilise all the new features and configure your settings via the updated system preferences options screen. In addition to this, the new Apple TV 2.1 software update allows access to MobileMe galleries for viewing on your TV, as well as support for Apple's remote app.

The most significant new feature of MobileMe, other than a vastly improved web interface, is 'push' support. With this enabled, new email messages are pushed instantly to iPhones and iPod Touches via a 3G/EDGE data connection or Wi-Fi, removing the need to manually check email and wait for downloads. Push also keeps contacts and calendars continuously up-to-date so changes made on one device are automatically pushed up to all other devices synced to MobileMe.
